Jordan Zutski met two of Yanni's band members, Charlie Adams (drums) and Daniel Reyes (percussion), in 1995. Here's the story, as written by Jordan's mother, Lynda. Also, see below the story for pictures of Jordon on the drums.
After obtaining our tickets to Yanni's concert at the Mann Music Center
in Philadelphia on June 23, 1995 another series of concerts was added at the
Trump Taj Majah in Atlantic City. We were extremely lucky and were able to
get front row seats to the July 3rd, 1995 show. Unfortunately Yanni's back
was to us most of the concert. My son Jordan has been Yanni's and Charlie
Adams' biggest fan since he was 3 in May of 1994. We saw Yanni initially on
PBS and Jordan immediately took to it, playing drums on tables, boxes, coffee
cans, etc. Jordan already had a little play keyboard and he got his first
Fisher Price drum that summer. He seemed held back, he needed to get more.
That Christmas he got his first drum kit and keyboard. We have built his drum
set up to about 25 pieces (incuding chimes, a bell, a triangle, electric drum
pads, and a Choo Choo Charlie whistle.) Jordan is remarkable, he has no right
ear canal and that side may not have any internal parts. Hearing tests are
inconclusive.
Jordan with Daniel Reyes
Anyway, Jordan, at 4 years, really knew much of the rhythm and melody of
all of Yanni's and Charlie's music and was pretend playing during the shows.
At the concert in Philadelphia, Jordan was so excited that while "playing" he
hit the people in front of us several times. During the Atlantic City concert
he caught the attention of much of the band and orchestra. We could see Ricc,
Charlie, and Danny Reyes seemingly talking about Jordan during the concert.
At intermission, we were talking with other concert-goers and were startled
when Charlie and Danny showed up to talk to us and presented their sticks to
Jordan. We were blasted. Charlie asked us to hang around after the concert.
During the second half of the concert Karen Briggs blew a kiss at Jordan and
Charlie pointed his 3 foot sticks at Jordan during Marching Season.
Afterwards we met Danny, Charlie and his wife, Andrea. We talked a bit, but
were rushed along by the World Tour crew. Charlie and Danny were gracious to
allow us to get an autograph and take photographs. Both Charlie and Danny are
really special people, they were so kind and genuinely caring. Jordan and his
parents cherish this concert which will remain a vivid unforgettable memory.
We can't wait until the next tour!
