  • 1995 World Tour Continues

Yanni & his 45 piece symphony orchestra to Mexico City for record-breaking sold-out performances

(Los Angeles) Composer/performer Yanni's international success grows as he and his 45 piece symphony orchestra continue their 1995 World Tour this month in Mexico City, Europe and the US. Since its release in March of 1994, Yanni's "Live At The Acropolis" album (Private Music) and television special have become a mega-force around the world. Album sales of "LATA" are approaching 5 million units worldwide (Yanni's total catalogue sales now exceed 10 million units worldwide) and the TV special has been broadcast on major networks in 30 countries - a testimony to Yanni's universal appeal.

One year ago, a virtually unknown Yanni became an overnight sensation in Mexico City, selling out two nights at the Auditorio Nacionale and capturing the hearts of the Mexican people with his inspirational live performances.

This month, Yanni returns to the country that so embraced him and his music to give something back. Yanni will present a new show to Mexican audiences, (including five new pieces never performed in Mexico), as well as bring the gift of charity to this now economically devasted country. He will perform four sold-out concerts, November 10-13, establishing a new record as the first foreign artist ever to sell-out four consecutive shows at the Auditorio Nacionale. Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets, which cannot be met, Yanni's November 11 concert will be broadcast live on Pay-Per-View throughout Mexico, also making history as the first live Pay-Per-View concert ever produced in that country. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the vicitims of Hurrican Roxanne and the State of Quintana Roo. As a special gesture to the people of Mexico City who are unable to purchase concert tickets, two large-screen Jumbotrons will be erected at a university campus for students and the public to experience the live concert simultaneously. Donations of food and other appropriate contributions for several charities have been requested as admission to these events. Yanni's November 13 concert will benefit Grupo Retorno and Vida y Familia, two charity organizations assisting youths and single mothers.

Following Mexico City, Yanni will cross the Atlantic for his first tour of Europe, beginning in Frankfurt on November 16 and concluding in Rome on December 5. Tour cities also include Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Antwerp, The Hague, London and Milan. Yanni's concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall on November 29 & 30 will be recorded for a live television special.

Due to popular demand, Yanni will then return to North America for the last leg of his 1995 World Tour performing additional dates in Seattle on December 7 and Vancouver on December 9.

After the holidays, Yanni will begin work in the studio on his next album. In 1996, he will continue to introduce his music to countries around the world with concert tours in new territories including South America, Eastern Europe and Asia.
